(I read all of them through last week, before I started commenting.) I will be coming back around to offer my keep/tweak comment, but I didn't want anyone to snark.

Cheers,
Aerin (#236)

BTW, it's perfectly fine if you still want to snark, but this way you can choose a more appropriate subject, like Sarah Palin's hair or the enigmatic career of Justin Timberlake.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15498010.post-83104707108960526532010-01-17T07:33:18.622-05:002010-01-17T07:33:18.622-05:00Sometimes those stories are grounded in reality. He sounded quite reasonable to me; crows are smart and in fairy tales it's usually the bird who leads you out of the woods (unless the greedy bastard ate your breadcrumbs) so really the sensible thing to do is take Frank up on it.

Damned useful, if you ask me, having a friend like Frank. And yet there are deeper layers and sub-layers to this piece. One imagines that he's gone insane and then one realizes that he has indeed lost it since he's striking a deal with a talking bird that has a name. And then the end where what we think is insanity actually saves his life.

Loved the subtlety with which you've connected it to the contest picture...
