The Conference Which Burns with Fire and Brimstone

~~7:10 a.m.

I'm dreading today.

I have that gravity feel. All I want to do is sleep. The world is battleship grey, and because of daylight savings time, the cars still have their headlights on. I feel like I'm traveling and just left my budget hotel room. Distant traffic hums on the highway. The pancake house next door is hopping.

~~10:00 a.m.

Welcome to my personal hell. Two-day continuing legal education courses. Have a seat and make yourself comfortable. Not.

~~12:15 p.m.

One morning down! Time to celebrate!! Lunch in China Town!!!

~~3:05 p.m.

Won Ton high over.

So sad.

Work calls. Email.

Make them go away.

I could write something. Or run through some plot ideas. But people are scrambling my brain.

I'll do a Limerick instead. An emo Limerick.

Hey, is it St. Patrick's day yet?

Once a premed, I'm a lawyer
Now looking on colleagues like a voyeur
The False Claims Act is changing
     Health care's decaying
It would rock to have written Tom Sawyer

Sounds like you need time to recharge.....actually you sound like you need a cyberhug....here's one coming your way (I'm a big believer in the power of hugs!!!)

Beware of the Wonton high, always make you low, LOL

Who knew such a fun limerick could use 'awyer' rhymes?!!

I like Geraldine's idea. Let's all connect for a group hug....

:-)

I'm actually from Limerick .... born and bred!

There was a young lawyer called Evans
Whose thoughts were at sixes and sevens
He was in the wrong post
He liked writing the most
Or taking pretty pictures of the heavens

Rhyme is in da culture!

BTW Paddy's Day is on the 17th March. I wish I could be in a country that celebrated it - you know like America. England doesn't do parades!

There are days like these. One wishes to switch them off, de-tune and disappear.
The urge to go OBE-ing while sitting at meetings like these are feels painfully real.
Yet, there's that tiny voice that speaks of future...and the realm of real world...

Let's join with the others in a friendly, cyber-hug!

"Now looking on colleagues like a voyeur"

Maybe you'll find some character inspiration. Perhaps you'll even see the personification of one of your characters. Just don't laugh out loud too often!
:)

On the bright side, you get to come home early!
;)

Aw, now see...I think it would be fun to attend continuing legal education courses...

Grass is always greener... :)

Love the limerick! There's a way to keep your brain churning during the snorefests.

You do emo so well, Jason.

**Thanks everyone for helping to cheer me up! It's lunchtime on the 2nd day now. I'm in the home stretch!**

Geraldine, the cyber-hugs definitely help. :)

Chris, LOL! I didn't have much to work with. As Randy would say on American Idol, I worked it out.

Janey, see that! I had no idea you came from such a graced place! Yes, St. Patrick's day is pretty big here in the U.S.

Szelsofa, you're right. It's a good time to reflect. Glad you're in the group hug. :)

Aine, some of these people are insane. I swear. Getting home early is a huge plus!

Precie, very good point. My problem is that this is the 11th consecutive time I've attending this conference. Ugh.

Jaye, ha! Somehow I think that wasn't quite a compliment, but I dig emo, so I'll take it. :)

And it *would* have been fun to have written Tom Sawyer (although I would not have wanted to have Twain's dark side).

Attorney sounded so appealing,
The thrill of the wheeling and dealing.
But now here I sit
My passion unlit
This conference has my brain reeling.

I think you'd have made a better Ambrose Bierce, actually; a 19th century emo-kid, of sorts. Cheer up, it's almost over. Where are you, by the way? All Chinatown gates look the same to me...

Jason,
This is exactly why I do all my CLE online now! God I love online courses, I can watch them whenever I want, pause, play, stop at will. No annoying people asking annoying personal questions. No traveling (the best!) No wasting paper unless I really need to print out the handout, can just read it online. I feel for you. BUt definitely use this time to come up with more limericks! I liked the premed one!

cheers,

E

Billy, he was certainly a character.

EOH, ah, but Bierce does not rhyme with "lawyer." ;) Thanks for the heads-up, though! I'll have to check him out. As for the arch, I'm in Philadelphia.

Ello, that does sound like the way to go. Since I'm a health care lawyer, I do feel somewhat compelled to attend the #1 event for the health law bar in Pennsylvania.

This feels like an epic haiku to me, though I have absolutely no idea why. (Could it be I'm insane? Absolutely.)

Awesome stuff, Jason. Sorry I've been AWOL from the site for a couple of weeks -- crazy busy!

Angelique, an epic Limerick...I like that! It can be done, I think. :) Glad to see you getting out despite the crushing work load.

We all have those days;
I dig your limerick, but
am best at Haikus.
