Winter Seeds

Tasting briars
A prince of the mountain
Shaping paths
He may choose to walk.
Gone is darkness
Relentless, dry hunger.
Green swells like breathing dreams.

Yet, beneath soft velvet
Hardness gnaws into bone
Antlers scratch skeletons
Among generations
Hearing blood in the blush of leaves.

Great line. The deer looks like he will make a fine buck. Fantastic shot.

Beautiful pic - I like the colour.. or rather the tones, if you know what I mean. 'Prince of the mountain' indeed.

Your words add so much to that picture, sorta brings it to life. :-)

I like that last line especially. Hearing blood in the blush of leaves. The blush of leaves. Nice.

Flood, thanks! Getting a clear picture of one in velvet was cool.

Terri, the camera creates intriguing effects. It's infrared for night photography, but during the day it is supposed to be color. In reality, the modes mix.

Melissa, he does seem regal in a way.

Anne, thanks so much! Once you said that it's easy to see how poetry touches everything I do. I don't consider myself a poet, but I do believe you're right. That mode of expression infuses what I write.

Tanya, I keep expecting him to snap his head up, alert. :)

Scott, thanks, my friend. =)

Very nice, Jason. :)

There is nothing left to say other than this is beautiful. The image is so fragile and strong at the same time and the words reflect this.

Eve, thank you. :) This camera produces a haunting quality.

Bernita, great to see you back!! You had us worried there.

Caryn, welcome welcome! Thank you for the kind words. I hope to see you back!

Jeff, =)

Eileen, I know what you mean. A moment like that is very fleeting. It is unlikely to happen just like that ever again.

Kelly, thanks, my friend. :)

Loved the last line!!! We tread hard on this Earth, and your gentle words walk softly alongside this creature.

Mermaid, your perception is always so open and fundamentally true. Thank you for that. :)
