Contest Time is Nigh

It's that time again. Contest time at the Clarity of Night!

I'm going to be opening my 8th short fiction contest next Wednesday.

We'll be serving up the usual smorgasboard of creativity, great writing, cash prizes, and community spirit. I even have a cool picture picked out. It's all you can eat...just make sure you grab a clean plate each trip to the buffet.

Since Monday will be my last post of normal content before the contest, I will try very hard to get the Tunguska series finished. After that, it's time to get your game on.

Have a great weekend!

In other words, another published writer will be born (it seems there have been several authors who have used your contests as inspiration for their novels).

How much would it cost to get an advanced look at the photo? :)

Your dog died? I'm so sorry!

Christine, yes, you get first honors. :)

Hoodie, I'm looking forward to seeing something from you.

Strugglingwriter, I'm a bit amazed, and definitely honored, by that. Clarity of Night contest wins show up in query letters and have spawned ideas for novels (including the home run by Jaye Wells!).

Jaye, speaking of our star.... :)

Sarah, I hope you enjoy this one as much as the past two! :)

Szelsofa, I know you will if you can manage it. No pressure.

Paisley, if the photo sparks something, then go for it!

Raine, the DEFENDING CHAMPION! Your seat of honor is just over this way....

Precie, very cool. :)

Anti-Wife, warm ups are definitely good. ;)

And yes, I'm sorry to say that one of our dogs was killed. We have two Whippets. One of them must have slipped out under the radar, and she was hit by a car. On the positive side (if there is such a thing), it appears to have been very quick, and she was 10. Also, if it wasn't for on-going medical care, she would have died a year ago, so all things told, she had a good life. It's just hard to have it happen like this.

But enough of that. I don't want to pull a gloom over things. We're doing okay.

Back to the matter at hand, I'm looking forward to getting the contest rolling!

What's that? You're posting a photograph to tempt my creativity out of hiding? Aw, you're too kind :-)

Sorry to hear about your dog

....Will dip in with interest, but have just created space for oil painting so writing is on the back burner for the moment. All the best to the rest....

This time, I'm going to win!

My entry is going to be about a fish that walks into a bar - I'm sure it's a winner! ;o)

Very cool! I love your contest! Will promote big time on my blog too!

C.S., that's the best way of all. :)

DBA Lehane, very cool! I can't wait to see what you create. And thanks for the link and the mention on your blog.

Terri, a story from you would be a treat. Yes, I'm shamelessly tempting you. (Thanks for the sentiment about our dog.)

Julie, oil painting! Wow, I'm amazed by your energy.

Ello, ha! That would be a shoe-in. Not sure if it will jive with the picture, though. ;) I know you'll bring lots of excitement to the contest.

Wordtryst, it's a really safe environment. Maybe you'll find the water warm and jump in. If not, that's okay too.

Josh, very close now. Not long to wait!
