Thought you all might like this.
I was playing with old Super 8 movies of my childhood and came across this visit to a place called Storybook Forest in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. We just took our own kids there. It's very little changed after these, um, bunch of years.
Check out 3-year-old Jason running around and catching the sights! :)

What a priceless memory. Storybook Forest looks like an ideal place to visit. You were a real cutie!
My showing was pixelated and it was interesting that while it seemed I could see enough detail, no one had a face. It was like that part on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Kind of surreal. Maybe I'll have to check it out on YouTube.
You behaved classicly, however, with a cute little wave whenever prompted. That's fun.
There was a place like this we took my son Josh when he was little. He once got his head caught in Captain Hook's pirate ship. what an experience.
I caught this over on YouTube a little while ago. And as I said then, you were very cute. It looks like a wonderful place to take your little ones. A great memory to find. Thanks for sharing.
BTW the song was beautiful - who was it?
Adorable! What a lovely memory.
Awww!That was so cute,especially the savoring-lollipop-on-a-toadstool part :)
You certainly were a cutie! How lovely to see your parents in the film, too. Karen xx
awww, Jason - Oh gosh, what a sweet, sweet snippet of your childhood. Your mom is so beautiful, and your dad very handsome - and you just take the cake. I have to tell you that I "misted up" upon viewing this. Story Land looked like a great place. The music added to the gentle melancholy...was it Peter Paul and Mary? I don't think so, but....maybe.
Selma, thanks. :) It's the kind of place that always seems better in memory. Or in pictures.
Hoodie, I like your analogy. Sometimes my life feels pixelated. Especially my youth. Yet, I still feel what that child was feeling.
Charles, oh my Lord. I can only imagine! Something tells me the fire department was involved. Either that or lots and lots of butter.
Janey, thanks for being the first (and only) commenter!! :) My cute stage lasted until age seven or eight. A nasty pair of glasses didn't help either. As for the song, it's by Peter, Paul, and Mary. I have to go look up the title.
Anti-Wife, the fascinating part is to watch the interactions. The personalities already at play.
Sameera, I think I need some toadstool time again. :)
Karen, great to see you! Thanks for the kind words. :) Those curls were something. Later, they "calmed" to stubborn waves.
Kaye, I'm not suprised that you tapped into it. Yes, that's Peter, Paul, and Mary. And I'm guilty of misting up too. But for rather bittersweet and complex reasons. I wish I could go back and be the friend that boy was going to need.
Hello
How cute is not that...with that song it is excellent. It moust have been like memory's flow all over you?
I couldn't see this very clearly, even in 'high quality' but what I did see was so endearing. What a cutie you were Jason (still are!!!) and your mom, wow...leggy lady. I love old movies and photos, thanks for sharing.

LOL...oops!!! Trust Mr. C to notice the legs! I was typing a comment for him (on a cat blog) just before stopping by and forgot to switch back to my own ID.
Bye again, G
Jason...I'm actually going to try and see Peter, Paul, and Mary in November in Wilkes-Barre. They are one of the reasons why I learned to play guitar. (not very well, I'm afraid)
Your final comment made me want to wrap my arms around that little guy in Story Land. I am sorry that something in your young life caused you such pain. :(
Fancy, it's an odd thing to watch. To feel myself there, but not remember it.
Geraldine, the miles of legs....well, it was the early 70's.... ;)
Kaye, nothing hugely traumatic happened. But a long, quiet, insidious trauma. I was (am) complicit, I'm sure. Somedays I could still put that hug to use. :)
How cute and the music is a perfect match. I love the end with you sitting on the toadstool waving with your lollypop. Perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, mgirl. :) Music from that era and Super 8 film go perfectly together.
Aw, what a cutie. And your mom brought back memories of mine wearing those very short dresses. Now I want to go and hunt up old albums.
