Winter Covers Thrown

Tongue tips to snow
We clutched against blizzards
Mud frosted Earth
We slaughtered Orion
And plunged into boiling
Life's lightning pool birth

Great lines here. I'm not sure of the meaning, but that's OK.

I'm afraid the meaning is over my head too, but...
Oooh pretty snow!
All we get is cold & black ice, not too much pretty in that.

Great photo Jason, is this in your immediate area? I am soooo hoping for snow but none in the forecast, here in Interior BC.

I'm lost re: the meaning of the words here too but as Charles said above, that's ok!

I think you may have baffled us with this one Jason. The first three lines and the last three seem to be so far apart. From beautiful snowscape to turmoil. The last three lines put me in mind of the origins of life - you know, big bang followed by primordial ooze. Wonderfully cryptic Jason.

Beautiful photograph!

From cold alone to the heat pooled from frictions. Sometimes it's hard to see the viscera beneath winter's concealed skin.

But man, what a thaw, and awakening, this poem provokes. :)

Charles, Terri, Geraldine, and Janey, sorry the meaning was elusive in this one! But thank you for the warm thoughts and for sharing the quiet moment in the snow. :)

Aggie, cold at their backs, yes. ;)

Sarah, thank you. :) Sometimes the passions of life and love are sweetest when counterposed against the bite of ice, darkness, and snow.

The words here are electric. I feel something vital taking place -some primordial compulsion. The death here is symbolic. The plunge is either the beginning or the end of something - or perhaps both. A purification - a renewal?

Very interesting, Jason.

Kaye, primordial compulsion, plunge, renewal...all true. :)

Fascinating..."mud frosted" "clutched against blizzards" "tongue tips to snow"...may have to absorb a bit more before I can make any comment on these lines rather than simply repeating them back to you in an admiring tone....
