Resurrection Blue
by Scott Ennis
I see the Blue reflected in the rise
of interwoven memories of steel,
which carries me to places I despise,
yet guards me from the gravity I feel.
I wear the simple wrinkles of the Blue
as simply as the shadows I ignore.
When darkness frays, the light comes shining through
and drags itself across the rising floor.
Anticipation glides in noiseless dreams,
like deus ex machina, oiled well.
Ascension into heaven fades and seems
to only rise above the Blue of hell.
There’s no one left below, no turning back
to where the Blue has faded now to black.

Good imagery,well rhymed! :)
Nice to see you and your sonnets here Scott! Good one. You can paint an image like none other...
I like how you weave the colour blue through the whole piece. It is very effective. Your imagery is astounding. I particularly like the fraying darkness. Excellent!
I've been reading your other sonnets and am amazed at how you've taken the form and made it so naturally your own.
In this, I especially like
"of interwoven memories of steel,
which carries me to places I despise,
yet guards me from the gravity I feel" and the blue imagery. Really good writing!
well done, scott :D
This is so absolutely descriptive and full of wonderful images.
When darkness frays, the light comes shining through
and drags itself across the rising floor.
Those lines are breathtaking!
So descriptive! Liked each line of it. Well done!
Very creative take on the photo. Great word choices in this. Interwoven, wrinkles, frays, and fades. Simple like a pair of jeans, but hard and cold like the escalator.
yes...
I sense a drifting here, to a place already well traveled, but hoped against. No deus ex machina will rescue him from this despair. That escalator will grind on.
As always, a powerful sonnet, Scott. Your imagery is dark, but lit with honest emotion.
beautiful and powerful
I like the blue throughout too
Wow. That was a lovely sonnet! Loved the word choice, loved the imagery - powerful writing indeed.
jana
luvd it!
I loved your rhymes and I loved the blue...
Like a partner in crime, I sang them through!
You grew a forest of emotions from a single seed...
It was amazing, great and marvelous indeed! :-D
Thanks for being a wonderful part of the contest!
