Fun Friday: Do Overs

Kicking back on this nice early summer Friday?

(Sorry, southern hemisphere folks. I don't mean to rub it in.)

Awesome! Up for a Friday game/rap session?

Today's theme is do overs. I'm giving you the power to go back in time. In comments, let us know what you would tell yourself to do, or not to do, if you had the chance to change your history. Serious or less-than-serious answers are welcome!

Warm up your fingers. It's time to hit the cosmic delete key.

On New Year's Day, when your mom and stepfather offer you that awesome homemade horseraddish, don't eat it!! They are about to poison you. (And themselves.)

(BTW, it was actually the home canned beets they mixed it with.)

I would have gone to France for a year just after high school. Did you ever see the movie, Sliding Doors? I have always felt that not making that move was the major V that turned the course of my life in an entirely different direction. I chickened out, I shouldn't have.

1. I never would have quit my post office job in Berkeley CA in 1979 to return to Detroit to get married then divorced three years later which caused me 20 years worth of child support.

2. I never would have started drinking a fifth of Jim Beam every night, I would have banked the money instead.

3. I never would have quit drinking a fifth of Jim Beam ever night, money is, after all for spending.

4. I never would have gone down 13 mile road at 1 in the afternoon when the young chick came out of the parking lot and rolled my vehicle over breaking my neck. I would have gone down 13 mile road at 1:05 instead.

5. I would have chosen to be a lot meaner a lot earlier and saved myself from some beatings that I had to return once I got older.

6. I would have skipped the entirety of 2006 because I went to 9 funerals that year and only three of them were from natural causes.

7. Come to think of it I wouldn't change a damn thing about my past.

I can think of plenty of instances where I wish I was more assertive or less unsure. There was that pricey year of med school, too. ;)

But in taking a cue from Cat's answer, I think I'll just say that I wish I'd taken a night walk along the Seine when I was in Paris.

Not so serious one:

Don't watch "Eragon". Its BADDD. Most movies made on novels are good you know. Lord of the rings was a one off thing. You'll waste 2 precious hours of your life that you'll never get back. Don't do it. Noooooooo.....

Serious ones would take serious thoughts. No fun about that. :)

I wouldn't have quit riding a bicycle. I think I would feel better, mentally and physically, if I still rode.

I would have had more kids. I always wanted seven! But stopped after three. Yeah, another couple of kids would have been wonderful.
Or at least I should have adopted a child in need. :)

I should have just said "NO! Are you out of your mind?!" and moved out before I said "I DO"... but then I wouldn't have done all those wild and adventurous things that filled up the spaces between the awful bits, and made life bearable.

I should never have stopped doing yoga...

When that group of seventh grade girls was stalking you at the mall that summer, don't turn them down. Who cares if they were only seventh graders and you were in eighth. Who cares that you were not expecting the attention (the real reason). You might as well start somewhere (and learn to loosen up sooner).

I can't do it. Can't change a thing. Firm believer it all leads here and after all, here I am, and that ain't so bad.

My list would be too long, but I do subscribe to the notion that we prolly wouldn't do it different if we did it all again. Maybe if I could go back knowing what I know now ...

Funny thing is though you actually change your past by the reaction to the experiences of your present.

If I could go back in time I'll correct the error I made on my previous comment and change it for "are" to "are not". Damn typos. :D

LOVE LOVE LOVE the movie Sliding Doors.

I wouldn't have discouraged Marc or John, I would have gone to law school, I would have had /one/ cigarette w/ Jen.

I wouldn't have chased Jason in 7th grade....... :)

Should have killed him while I had the chance...

(Hey I wont be judged by what I say here right?? :D :D)

I wudnt have seen this movie on 27th Aug 01. I know long time. bu i regret it, for some utterly stupid personal reason.

Wouldn't have said yes that night with "S" would have said no to "J" when he asked to marry me. Would have busted him when he cheeted the fist time instead of the last time.

I would've attended my brother's wedding like the rest of the family did.

Geeze after reading the world of regrets now I would have refused live birth for myself.

Walking Man, people are capable of making mistakes. And not every path is the only path. "Regret" doesn't equate with unhappiness or paralysis. And not improving on life if you had the chance would be curiously stubborn.

I wouldn't have been so impulsive. I would have been more open to learning how to navigate the world.

Aye Jason...stubborn be a hard learned trait. Mistakes...oh shit brother I've made dozens, hundreds even, depending on who does the counting; but regrets...I have none. My epitaph is already written waiting for the stone mason.

"He had a life and he lived it."

curious thing these word verifications....mine is now "under"
