Game Friday: You Can Quote Me on That

Hi all! Happy Friday!! Hope you all are hatching some stellar weekend plans for our newly minted autumn (or spring...you know who you are).

We deserve to kick off the merriment a little early, right? Right??

Share with us one of your favorite movie quotes. One that really speaks to you. Extra points if you used it in conversation today. I'll get us started with a couple.

"Talk to me Goose." Tom Cruise (as Maverick), Top Gun

"Do. Or do not. There is no try." Yoda (playing himself), Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back

'' No, you just need to believe. Promise me, Shifu, promise me you will believe. ''

(Oogway to Shifu in Kung Fu Panda.)

Too common, but one's I use (or think) frequently:

"We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto."
"You can't handle the truth!"
"Help me Obi-Wan-Kenobi, you're my only hope."

No ID necessary, right?

"There are too many notes!" said the King of Austria to Mozart in Amadeus in regards to WAM's opera The Marriage of Figaro.

Wonder what he would have said to Wagner...

Oh, I thought of a couple more.

"Your eyes are full of hate, 41." (Ben Hur)

"But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief that thou, her maid, art far more fair than she." Need I say from whence this comes?

Incurable hopeless romantic, I know...

This is fun, Jason. :-) Here are some that I like:

The Pope: When will you make an end?
Michelangelo: When I am finished!

(from "The Agony and the Ecstasy")

Harry Callahan: I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?

(from "Dirty Harry")

"The truth? What truth? There is no truth. These men just make it up as they go along."

(Alex Krycek in "The X-Files")

Have a wonderful weekend!

LOL-- you know where I'm going with this one! Here's just a few, one of which I did use yesterday, and another just a few days ago.

"Constant vigilance!" - Alastor (Mad-eye) Moody

"There's no such thing as magic!" - Vernon Dursley

"It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends." - Albus Dumbledore

"Not good, brilliant!" - Ron Weasley

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that." - Albus Dumbledore

"Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself." - Hermione Granger (in the movie)

"Funny, the damage a silly little book can do, especially in the hands of a silly little girl." - Tom Riddle

"Now if you two don't mind, I'm going to bed before either of you can come up with another clever idea to get us all killed - or worse, expelled." - Hermione Granger

"I solemnly swear I am up to no good." - the Marauders

Hey, you created me. I didn't create some loser alter-ego to make myself feel better. Take some responsibility! - Fight Club

"The end depends upon the beginning" - The Emperor's Club

I have a habbit of using movie quotes at every slightest possible chance I get.

I used all of them today. :P

PS: If Aine had it her way, she would have written the whole 7 books here. :P

"Come on, Heather. Let's have another look at today's lunch. Bulemia is so '87." Heather #1 to Heather #3, Heathers

And also from Heathers, "I love my dead gay son!"

I need to watch that again. The militia inspired feminine 80's fashion alone is good for laughs even with the volume off.

LOL! These are so much fun!

From a Bette Davis flick, something like, "Hold on. It's going to be a bumpy night."
Oh, I have to google that now. I just hear Bette Davis saying that...
