Time Flies (in Retrospect)

"That's a long way off."

"Yes."

"I can't even think that far ahead."

"Understandable."

"In fact, it's almost not worth thinking about right now."

"I hear you, but I'll make you a little promise. It'll be here before you know it. In a flash. And when you look back, there will just be a bunch of living in between."

And I thought nothing could make me smile this morning :) You have a knack for simplicity as you have for complexity.

I wonder how you put the most complicated things in the simplest possible way!
It must be keen observation, experience and fluctuating seasons...

*Ditto Atrisa* :)

Yeah... why is that?

Ask me the day before at the earliest but preferably an hour before. then I'll think about it.

Ahem, err, excuse the pun, but nice little flash. Damn...is it that time already?

I agree with erratic thoughts. Brilliant

Perfect way to motivate someone who is waiting for 'that, exact' moment/ thing...

I love the truth here-it seems like you're saying, "plain and simple, this is what's going to happen, and we both know it."

Jason,
As we age one would think that we should slow down but the accelerator gets closer to the floor every year.

Your logical explanations and how easy you make it sound always amazes me Jason. Nice :)

Atrisa, that's really a cool thing to say. Thanks! I have a weird desire, in general, to find the simple roots of what appears to be complex. Sometimes complex is complex, though. (And glad to give you a smile!)

Erratic Thoughts, like I was saying to Atrisa, I feel like our motivation and drives and understanding of experiences tend to have simple roots. They are very hard to uncover, though. I think I was about 15 when I started digging and digging for them. It's probably how I try to make sense of the world.

Tabitha, it's a weird feeling--to feel a leap in time, but look back and realize that every single day was packed.

Walking Man, I guess this post was my way of mixing the before and after in one place and moment.

DBALehane, ha! Yes indeed. It's that time.

Maha, great to see you! I read your blog often. And thanks!

Antriksh, that's a great angle on it. Why have all the fill time? Carpe diem, as they say.

Oddyoddyo13, I like that. Both speakers feel something real. One will eventually grow into the other.

Rel, great to see you! Now that I'm in my forties, I definitely feel the speed picking up.

Kaye, sometimes I wonder if these two thoughts--the looking forward and the looking back, are somehow bigger than the others in between.

Wild Rose, thank you! I like how you see the influence of the logical here. I often feel like a odd mix feeling/artistic and logical/rational. I do turn to logic to build my understanding of the world. Maybe I then turn to the feeling/artistic to celebrate it.

I love the paradox of "just" before the "bunch of living in between" -- and perfect photo, too, as always. And yes, it seems you have that right brain/left brain thing going on. Artist/Attorney that you are.

Sere, that's really the heart of it there. That paradox. (And yes, I definitely have those two brain halves up to different things!)
