I agree with Mona...love this haiku. Both eerie and heartwarming at the same time. And the photos reflect this duality as well. Spent yesterday traveling back from visiting my mom and felt like I'd missed Halloween until I stopped by here. Thanks!
Love the jack-o-lanterns! I miss seeing the little tikes all dressed up. I've lived in apts too long, and no one here brings kids door-to-door. They all troop to the nearest church to enjoy the NOT Halloween/Samhain festivities. Sad really, but such is city life.
Amanda yearns for a dark presence haunting the pond behind her house (4000 words). Smashwords ebook $0.99.

Check out the exciting new Halloween anthology edited by Anne Frasier. In my piece, "She Came on the October Wind," a stray black cat appears nightly at Natalie's window and brings memories of a sister who ran away years earlier. Available for pre-order. August 2011.

Promise, I got scared, really!
Very cute!
I love carved Pumpkin lamps! The haiku is great " Dead outshine the living", what a catch phrase!

my daughter begged me to buy a pumpkin this year again so that she can carve one for herself...
these photos are great ideas for next year :)
Erratic Thoughts, I like taking a camera along as the kids trick-or-treat.
Karen, thanks. :)
Mona, this pumpkin was a group design.
Sere, eerie and heartwarming...loved that! That captures the feeling really well. Glad to see you and share a little Halloween spirit!
Szelsofa, my younger daughter designed the eyes, my older daughter designed the nose, and when negotiations between them broke down, I did the mouth!
Love the jack-o-lanterns!

I really love jack-o-lanterns! And...you captured these so wonderfully!
Bebo, not-Halloween is so sad. :(
Kaye, hopefully people don't think I'm weird carrying around a camera in the dark.
