Game Friday: WTF??

Some things just stop you in your tracks and make you say, what the fuck??

Let's dish today on things that don't compute. Crazy things that mess up life. For no good reason.

Here's one of mine: Double doors going into a store. Double doors. Yet, one of them is locked. WTF??? People going in. People going out. You approach the door to make the traffic all smooth, and WHAM. Locked. What purpose does this serve?? Is it just a matter of the store workers being too lazy to unhook the manual door locks? Can't they be bothered to do more than turn a key? Do we need to make pedestrian pandemonium?? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Okay. I feel better. Your turn.

the first thing that came into my mind was that when I walk in a crowded street, I just don't get why some people can not go smoothly - they walk and abrubtly stop, forcing me to change my direction and/or stop, too.

oh and one more thing: we live in a quiet suburbian street. yet almost everytime I leave the garden gate (it's Europe, we have fences around every private property, remember) there is a car going down on the street.
There are practically no traffic in our street except for, like one car in every fifteen minutes, but when I leave the house that's sure to be one of those 'car-minutes'.

When I see young mothers in stores with children hanging on them, crying for their attention, and these mothers are yelling at their kids and yakking on their cell phones!

In Michigan you can turn right on a red light or after stopping at a stop sign. It has been thus for almost 25 years. Now the turn right after stopping has devolved into barely slowing down and trying to beat the oncoming traffic. WTF!!

Walking Man:

In a similar phenomenon Atlanta (currently populated almost entirely by ex-pats from New Jersey and New York) enjoys the use of the turn signal for a lane change as a sign that the car in the neighboring land should speed up. Because wherever you're going, you shouldn't get there before they do. Maybe they are worried that the cookies will all be gone if you get there first.

okay guys, let's dig a hole, a really huge hole, over 2 of the 3 lanes of traffic, at peak hour!

I enter the supermarket. Pick up three or four things: a loaf of bread; some milk; butter; apples. That's it.

Go to the checkouts. Six checkouts in this small store.

Only two are manned, or rather, womanned.

Four unwomanned. Long queues at the two open checkouts.

I don't queue. Dump the basket on an empty checkout bench. Walk away.

I'd sooner driver ten miles to a well-managed store than give my small custom to this mob.

While checking in my baggage at the LAX to take my flight back home, I had two suitcases to check in. They were slightly overweight ( one by 3 pounds and another by two pounds) They said that I was supposed pay $ 70 for each suitcase, for extra baggage. But there was another option too. If I paid $35 , they would give me a luggage bag ( quite a nice one ,that is , I'm sure worth more than $35 ) where I could transfer some of my luggage from the suitcases. And then I wouldn't have to pay a cent extra!
That is when I thought WTF!!

I live in California so my main source of WTF'ing comes from traffic. The latest WTF'er are cars coming to a stop at a red light, but leaving at least three car lengths ahead so that they can roll a foot every minute or so.

You're sitting there and suddenly the car ahead of you rolls a bit... a minute later a bit more... and so on, and before you know it YOU look like the dumb-ass that can't tell distance, or is too scared to move into position.

Yes, I suffer from a chronic, severe, and most likely terminal, case of road rage...

On a brighter note - have a great weekend!

love,
me

People who never use puctuation ever i mean i understand that there is always the risk of messing up a comma here or there but at least throw in a period now and then so we know where one thought ends and another begins oh and sometimes they just throw questions in there but without a question mark i dont know how to process it until i've read the run on sentence about four times this is incredibly prevalent on facebook and then after all this lack of punctuation they are sure to end every sentence with at least five exclamation points even though the content of the text warrants none whatsoever!!!!!!!!

I hate the way Windows Vista encourages indecision.

Are you sure you really want to do that?

Like, really, really sure?

When young "parents" seem oblivious to their children's safety.

I've seen this again and again, young children, barely able to walk on their own, a fair distance ahead (or even worse, behind) of their parents. And the parents, acting spaced-out...God know what they are thinking about, it's not their children! WTF indeed.

What's with the toddler in the restaurant mouthing the ketchup bottle and the mother taking it from him and setting it back in the condiment caddy? What's with not informing the waitress? Does she think it's okay for the next diner to lather-up his hamburger with a ketchup-toddler-saliva combo?

CD packaging; and that moulded plastic packaging - you know, the ones that are just Sooooo difficult to open that you end up breaking nails and cutting your hands to ribbons trying to get at whatever it was you bought. For what? Surely there must be an easier way...?!

I vote we find the people responsible and string 'em up. Who's with me?

I can get a torch and pitchfork behind that idea.
