Personal Architecture (While Eating in a Restaurant)

my cousin said long ago
what a horrible experience it was
to eat lunch in a restaurant alone
I used to be self-conscious about it
when I did
but dared myself to walk in and sit down anyway
now, in this crowded restaurant
in Chinatown
I realize it doesn't bother me at all
the noise and conversations fall like rain
while I remain comfortably dry
maybe I've had enough years
and reminders
to accept my place in the world

(TO ALL: May the new year bring you seen and unforeseen changes for the better. Happy 2011!!)

*shrug* some days it is better to be a part of the rainfall and others better to be under the umbrella. As long as they get the order right I can go either way easily enough.

Same back at ya for the days ahead Jason.

I like that ... you accept your place in the world (accept yourself?) We all must arrive at that place sometime! Have the best year ever.

AS, it's been another eventful year. :)

Shadow, I think it's good. Even if it doesn't always feel that way.

Walking Man, that's harder for me. I tend not be an either/or person.

Akasha, you too! I hope it's a great one.

Kaye, I do think I'm evolving in that direction. I guess the hard part is when accepting yourself feels like letting go of another vision of the world.

Karen, best wishes to you and your family!

Been there :)

Happy New Year, Jason. I hope you sit alone a lot more and find companionship whenever you wish.
