When All the Others Are Gone

after
more
hours
than
one day
should
hold
I
am
here
no other
soul
or
voice
just
the beyond
and
long long
minutes
behind
their
sleep
where
worlds
hunger
wither
and birth
and
I
remain
defy
watch
become
dissolve
endure
and
stand

I like this - the picture with these words just match perfectly. I can feel the fierce solitude and determination to be okay with it.

Somewhat cryptic, I must say. But, nothing like holding your ground. I love riding trains and loitering in train stations - Hammond to New Orleans is $40.00 round trip -- nice picture ...

a bitterness in gaining a questionable power. but at that very moment, standing there and controlling the world, but most of all, the self, is inevitable.
:)
just my two cents :)

Nicole, "fierce," I like that. Yes, it's like that. And inevitable.

Walking Man, something very curious and fascinating about ghost trains.

Jackie, I'm often guilty of being cryptic. ;)

Szelsofa, I like that insight. Especially the notion of inevitability.

I'm sorry. I wish things had turned out differently, that all your dreams came true. That everything and everyone could be as you expect/want. That you didn't think yourself so alone.

And, I'll never stop trying to change that...

Aine, that was a long, long day after an event where it's all about my performance, not what I would prefer to be doing. Standing on an empty train platform after that, I just feel very tired and drained. Years of drainage. But I also tell myself that I will keep going regardless. But I still have lots of fun. :D Thank you that!

Jason, one of my favorite things that you consistently accomplish in your writing is a duality of abstractness and specificity. It's haunting and engaging and one of the things that characterizes your writing in my mind. Kudos on this piece, and comforting thoughts for the events that precipitated it.

Meyrick, just me and my Blackberry. :)

Joni, what a cool thing to say! I appreciate that, my friend. A few days ago, I looked back on some of my work and was really disgusted. Maybe I was in a foul, self-critical mood. But even then, I hoped that I've captured something different and memorable in these short pieces. That's why your comment was so well timed. Thanks again.
