In Velvet

Winter-reaped antlers
Gnashed in January fangs
New strength will fall too

Okay. I wanna know how you created that pic! :)

Great work with the Haiku, even more with the pics.

Love that.

The photos here are really cool! With just the wavy, shape-shifting outlines.

The haiku makes me think of cycles and how even the strongest succumb to them. But I like that those velvet antlers are sprouting again, anyway. (this is the season for it, right?)

Cool! I like the stained glass effect on your deer.

Was kind of thinking about the garden and how in little over a month the growing season will be over, and I was thinking it was just getting started... The poem made me think of that.

Poignant.
I agree with others... this is all about the cycles of life.

New strength falls to old strength leaving room for more new to be added to the old.

like Eliot said,"the end and the beginning were always there/ before the beginning and after the end..."

Thought provoking Hiaiku.

JR, actually, it did start as an infrared trailcam picture.

Shadow, we have evidence!!

Aniket, this was an infrared picture taken at night by a trailcam. The deer was close to the unit, so it got washed out. I isolated the background, turned it orange, then applied photo shop effects. Yeah, the haiku plays a supporting role. ;)

Meghan, they do bite.

Sarah, yes, antlers are quickly growing now! And I was thinking about cycles and seasons and how the deer show them so starkly.

Catvibe, whenever August hits, I feel the same way. And this year, I think it's going to be way worse, because here in Pennsylvania, we haven't even had a heat wave. This season is cold for us. Without a heat wave, I can't feel eager for the weather to cool off.

Bebo, thank you! There is hope and sadness interwoven.

Nothingman, it was an ocean ripple effect on the background, then a frosted glass effect on the entire image.

Walking Man, that's a great way to look at it. Ever dip makes room for something new to fill it.

Mona, those are wonderful lines! Thank you!

I like the haiku. Love the colours in the pictures too. They're real funky all dressed up like this - they belong on a big white wall in an ultra-modern minimalistic loft-type room, the only spot of colour in the place.

btw I'm not placing a link on the old blog - you'll find me here
