Game Friday: The Planets

Are you a planet hugger?

Planets are the coolest, aren't they? All the different colors, temperaments, sizes.... One for every personality, no?

If you had to pick a favorite planet because you were kicked off of Earth, which one would it be? (Don't worry about searing heat or flesh-shattering cold. We'll hook you up with a hat fan or a pair of hand warmers.) You can even pick Pluto. Since it's my game, I'm inviting back our dissed 9th planet. That poor bugger has been weeping ever since it was cast out.

Okay, I'll go first.

I'm heading to Neptune. Why? The ghostly blue. The silence of ice. The slow, century-and-a-half orbit perfect for watching the inner planets. It even has faint rings. Ca-ching!

So how about you? What planet are we hooking you up with?

**********

P.S. For those of you drawn to Uranus, please be careful. Keep Uranus clean. No dirtiness. You know what I'm sayin'.

P.P.S. If we can't insert a little kindergarten humor on a Friday, what's the use of being a grown up?? :p

Jupiter, because it has at least four very large moons. I would gaze upon the jupiterian sky, counting the seasons of the jupiterian year by watching the moons turning up and down in different fashion, just according to the season.

I would prefer the Andromeda Galaxy but due to limited choices, Pluto. Get as far away from earth. Besides, consoling seems to be my day job.

I returned to correct my words: I did some google research and found that it's not 'jupiterian' - since the name comes from the Latin, where the genitive is Iovis.
so, I think it's more accurate to say jovian sky, jovian year, etc.
the same goes to Mars, but that's quite well known I suppose.

Mars, I hear they have a terrific bar!

51 Pegasi simply because we haven't thrown any junk at it yet.

I'd be Venus: morning star, brightest planet in the sky; obvious associations with the goddess of love; looks serene on the outside but has a rocky surface and a hot atmosphere. Hmmm. Think that's me(at least I like to think so)!

Saturn. The rings!

Bernita said...

Like Karen - Venus. (It's my sign.)
Of constellations, Orion the Hunter and his dog...because as a child I could see him from my bedroom window on starry nights and our house was called Hunter's Home.

Yeah, Saturn. I always liked the rings. Why can't we get some rings? :)

I don't come in here enough and read you, do I? I should. To get that smile on my face look.
The Moon wins hands down for me everytime. The beautiful, mystical Moon; in all her finery.

I'm partial to Saturn. I hear the rings are comprised largely of ice and snowballs, so can anyone say intergalactic snowball fight?

Plus, pretty.

Saturn has always been my favorite. Not because I had any affinity for the Titan willing to eat his own children, but because the planet is both beautiful and dangerous looking.

But to be able to see the rings from my window--how spectacular... and Jupiter would feel close enough to touch.

Then again, Jupiter's moons are pretty cool, too. Hmmm... I guess I'm waffling!

Come on, Jason. We're all too mature to make any Uranus jokes. Who'd want to live there anyway? The Klingons have really overpopulated the place.

Mercury, because I love messages, both giving them and receiving them. And I like to watch the inner temperatures rise and fall with those messages. And I like to appear and disappear. I like it when parts of me find each other and grow into a ball that keeps collecting more of itself as it rolls. Not so fond tho, of when I break off into many balls rolling in different directions, but since I'm Mercury, I just roll around until I'm all together again.

Gleise is my planet (I don't believe you put a limit on the solar system we're in?). I like the contrasts--high temps, probable ice core, fairly large but travels around its sun in less than three days, but it's also one of the smallest planets of its kind. It's kind of lonely out there with just a sun for company (though it may have a sibling planet), plus all its inhabitants left a long time ago. One of them is here on earth and has been bugging me to get him in a story :)

I was going to say Venus or Neptune but that right there just sold me. Saturn it is!

Drats. I thought I was unique in my love of Saturn. Now...I'm just one of the pack.

I fell in love with Saturn at the ripe old age of eight. I gazed up into the sky, certain if I squinted proficiently...the rings would reveal themselves.

In fact, I gave up looking for Santa...for "the rings".

Neither appeared in the darkness. I was devistated.

Now I'm 48 years old. I'm still pissed by the Star Treck-esque cloaking device those bastards are using.

When you really love a person, or a planet, the heartache is always available...when you think about it.

Stupid Saturn.

Nah, I'm hopeless and I'll stick to earth. So when all you fanatics find out that life on your respective desired planets is too difficult for earthians, I can laugh my arse out on you. XD

My vote is for quicksilver Mercury, ever-changing and highly magnetic.

Can I move to a comet? I'd love to be on Tempel 1... something about the mystery of these solar boomerangs compels me...

Jupiter's the coolest planet, to me. It has the Great Red Spot, which is bigger than two Earths (yeah that's right, it has blemishes bigger than all of Earth combined) and it radiates more energy than it receives from the Sun. And, it's Zeus'planet which is just a whole extra bag full of sweet.

Mercury. Because it's ten degrees outside and I can't find my hat. And I have to go out. And it's windy.

Mercury. Definately.

Jupiter definitely! No other planetary body could be deemed as an embodiment of the most badass god of them all, Zeus!
