That's it folks! The voting period is now closed. Aine is hard at work tallying points for the Readers' Choice Awards, and I'm making final selections.
I expect to have the winners announcement up tomorrow evening(Wednesday the 20th).
I will also be indicating inductees into the Forties Club on the contest index. Look for the asterisks.
As you already know, there were many strong entries! Congratulations to everyone!! You all deserve a long round of applause.

thx for the reminder, will get right on it...
I want to thank you for hosting a great contest. I really enjoyed it and all the stories/poems that I got to read. Thank you!
Thanks for all your work in gathering us 'round!!
:-)
The works illustrated by this contest are so amazing, it'd be just as easy to wear a blindfold and throw darts at the list...but, I will endeavor to give it my presbyopic best....
Whatever the results be, this was an ass-kicking/rocket-firing/rollercoasting experience!!
Thank you so much for the contest!
Thanks, Jason, this is an eye opening experience for me. I had no idea how many talented writers are out there. It is kind of intimidating, but sometimes fear is a good motivator!
Sorry, no votes for readers choice this time, I'm simply overwhelmed. I got here late and thought I'd catch up-just can't do it fairly.
This is so exciting... from start to finish. It's my first attempt at participating and I have loved it all.
I submitted my top 10 last night and I may be permanently cross-eyed (kidding) so I cannot begin to imagine how much effort and time this requires of you, Jason.
Thank you so much for doing this!
Didn't think I'd do it but I did, I got my vote in on time... more to the point I actually managed to read all the entries! I started off trying to comment on each one but as time grew short I'm afraid that fell by the wayside a bit...
Besides, the people who commented before I got there pretty much said it all :)
Just simply WoAH!!
Just could not get to them all and remember who I liked as there were very few (two) that were not my cup of tea. Wow how do you vote for one?
ten? out of 230? Great work!
thanx :) u've been a wonderful host
Thank you for this learning opportunity.
You're the one who deserves a standing ovation! Thank you so much for being such an excellent host. This has been an absolute blast and, boy, have I learned alot!
Blogger just ate my comment. Grrr..
Thank you Jason and Aine (the lady always skips under the radar).
If PETA doesn't ban us, the crows don't sue us for defamation of character and the rats forgive us for the mass killing of their kind; then I will be looking forward to meeting everyone again at the turn of the tides.
All the best to everyone!
I feel awful about not voting, but life took over and I didn't get all of them read :(
Good luck to everyone!
Thank you for the kind words, everyone!
For all of you who couldn't read them all, that's okay. Really. This was a huge contest.
Even if we couldn't read them all for the contest, they'll be up here, giving us the chance to check out such talented writers.
Jason,
I read them all and that was a challenge. This contest gave me a bit of insight as to how an editor or agent may feel trying to decide on choosing the best of the best. It was hard.
I also found when I looked over my first 500 words of my novel for another contest, I had grown as a writer. Stuff jumped out at me that I had never seen before. Just from reading all the amazing 250 word stories, I got better at writing.
Thank you so much for doing this contest and I look forward to the next one.
This has been such a fun competition to participate in - I enjoyed reading all the entries though it was a bit rushed as I didn't find out about it until near the end. Thanks for hosting and I look forward to seeing the results!
I didn't vote, sorry - I just couldn't narrow it down to ten favourites.
Great contest!
Jason - it's been another marathon! I don't know how you do it but thank you so much for being bonkers enough to take something like this on. As so many people have mentioned, a contest like this is a terrific learning experience as well as being a place to meet so many like-minded people.
You're one in a million mate.
(word verification: noses - there's no significance to that, I just get a kick out of it when I get a real word!
Good luck to everyone!! Thanks for hosting, Jason. :)
As always old bean. Thank you very much for all the time and effort you put into this.
Some damn fine writing again if I may say so.
Thoroughly enjoyed it all.
Cheers Jason
Fantastic contest, yet again. Looking forward to seeing the list of winners--curious to see if I managed to pick any. :) Too bad I'll have to wait until tomorrow or Friday to get online to find out the results.
Good luck to all.
I agree with Jean Ann Williams. We all get to play the role of an editor, searching for those gem of a stories, curbing our own biases and preferences (which sometimes get in the way). Also, the feedback we get from our peers is unmeasurable.
Hmmm... immeasurable? You decide.
You make Aine do the Readers' Choice tallying? The woman is a goddess.
Thank you, Jason, AND Aine for all your work on this thing. It's been absolutely fascinating and not a little bit thrilling. Like the others, I barely had time to read the entries to choose favorites, let alone analyze, grade, and comment on each - I can't imagine how you do it!
Jason, I wish to express my gratitude to you for hosting these contests. It was one year ago that you hosted "Ascension" and I ventured into the blogosphere. Since then, I have rediscovered myself through writing. It was the support and comraderie that caused me to continue.
I nearly didn't enter this time because of the (sigh) real world's interference, but I'm glad I did. I regret that I was unable to read all entries, but even though the contest is closed, I hope to still do that.
Again, thanks to you and Aine!
I echo Karen. I'm really grateful to you Jason for holding these contests. I have made multitudes of awesome friends, learned vast quantities about writing and been blown away by the mysterious and always awesome wealth of creative takes on one theme. Thank you Jason, for hosting this. Thank YOU Aine, for all of your behind the scenes help. Thank YOU commenters who took the time to read and comment carefully on each entry.
What an awesome group of people you are.
