Brought to Mind
dark path
shadowed by starless night
curves back and back
where figures mill about the bushes
auld eyes glittering
lang syne silent
I walk ahead and ahead
but my vision is long
when I turn back
to the glittering eyes
growing more numerous
for every inch of terrain
I gain
and I know
they'll never catch me
through the twists and bends
of every place
I've dared to share
my face

Quod me non necat me fortiorem facit.
shadows are shadows. but we are to see(k) the light that is out there. at least, that is my contribution. i see this poem this way and the more i read it - the more i like it.
Happy New Year, Jason!

Szelsofa, I wish my Latin wasn't so rusty after being a college Latin major, but I did get it without looking it up! (I should give myself a break. It's not like I haven't piled 16+ years of other knowledge on top of my Latin.) I like that view of the poem. :) I've covered a lot of ground. And all of it is still back there. I'm just not there anymore.
February Grace, I truly hope that this is a spectacular year for you!
Dear Jason. I know this is a bit of a stretch of my imagination, which often runs amok, but I often feel as your protagonist does as I traverse the dark path of this infernal blogosphere. By partaking in this medium, I am already breaking my New Year's resolution. "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in." [smiles] Great read, sir! So meaningful and thought provoking...
Amazing graphic too! Jackie, maybe you are not meant to leave. ;)
you know, i thought it was a latin saying, but i found out it actually was not. some enthusiastic people translated it from english to make it sound better, or more ancient.
i like it though, whatever the language. :))
Jackie, perhaps wanting to be in and out at the same time. No, it's not so easy to leave.
Lee, thanks. :) It's a nice thought--to be meant to stay.
Szelsofa, I'm a sucker for Latin, so yes, it does make it loftier!
